Check You’re Lookin’ Cute, Then Check Your Food With Our Easy Mirror Hack!

CAN’T SEE YOUR SCREEN?

Shooting solo can be tricky to do if you can’t get a clear idea of what the camera is capturing. We’ve all been there: you’re shooting your recipe video hands-free, only to check the footage later to see that your incredible creation wasn’t in the shot!

TRY USING A MIRROR!

Straight from the Jikoni Studios team, our shooting solo hack: a mirror! Position the mirror behind your phone, and angle it so you can see the screen of your phone in the reflection. Now you’ve got a makeshift monitor!

GET YOUR FRAMING JUST RIGHT

Take your time lining up your shot before you hit record!

Top tip: Turn on the grid mode in your phone camera settings to make framing your shots easier. You can use the intersections of the 9x9 grid to decide where to place important compositional elements, and it can also help straighten the leading lines in the image, like wooden slats or dish edges.
